Eva’s Story: Chapter 3
Pt. 2
9-2-m-a-n

The rest of the walk home was mostly silent for Eva & Tyson. Except for a few instances where they shared a couple of words. Eva found it awkward to be with Tyson during this time. But, once they returned home everything was back to normal. Tyson had started preparing dinner, & asked Eva what all she wanted. “Oh, I don’t want anything yet. There’s something I want to try.” she replied with a grin. “What? You going to try hunting?” Tyson asked. “Sort of…” Eva replied, grinning yet again. “Okay… Just be home before the sun sets!” Eva nodded & headed out the door into the woods. Ever since hearing Zach’s story earlier that day, she had been thinking about the dragontaur’s ability. It fascinated her to a point where she wondered if she could do it. Being able to keep not only objects in her belly, but living beings as well! “That would be cool!” Eva thought to herself. “I bet having a living thing in me would feel funny…” the thought of a being squirming in her belly made Eva giggle. “I think I’ll look for something to test that out on. Hmmm… What animal would be good to eat, but keep alive?” she thought. Just as if meaning to answer her question, a rabbit ran & stopped a few feet away from her. “It’s perfect! Tasty & cute!” Eva told herself. She prepared for the chase that would ensue.

Tyson sat in his chair, eating the food he had cooked. It had been about an hour since Eva left. The sun was still up, but he was beginning to worry. Suddenly, the door opened & Eva walked in. “So… What did you manage to catch?” Tyson asked, noticing the bulge in her belly. “A tasty rabbit! I caught it almost after I left.” Eva replied, smiling. Tyson was confused. By now, she would have started digesting her meal & have a smaller lump. “How big was that rabbit?” he asked. “Normal size. I wanted to test something out!” Eva replied, giggling. It sounded as though someone was tickling her. Tyson became even more confused. Then he noticed that the bulge was moving. It was actually moving! “Stop it! That tickles!” Eva said, bending down & grabbing her belly. “What’s wrong? What did you eat?” Tyson cried out. He got up, but Eva gestured for him to stop. Suddenly, she began to cough, followed by a gagging sound. Tyson noticed the bulge move from her stomach to her throat, then into her mouth. She bent down & spat out the rabbit. It then ran out the front door. Tyson just stood there, dumbstruck. Eva looked up at him & yelled,” I did it dad! I’m like a dragontaur!” Tyson continued to stare at her. Suddenly,” You… just… spat out… a living… rabbit!” he said, in shock. “I know! I didn’t digest it, either! It worked!” Eva shouted. She noticed how surprised Tyson was, & began to calm down. He shook his head & went back to eating his meal, not saying a word. Eva continued to cheer to herself,” Oh boy! I can’t wait to show Zach & Abby!” She didn’t know if it was possible yet, but she imagined what it would be like to have one of them inside her. She giggled.

Tyson finished eating his food & put up his dishes. The sun was beginning to set, & he decided to chop more firewood before it did. “I’m going to go chop some more wood, Eva. Okay?” he said, walking out the door. Eva stood there wondering what she could do to keep herself occupied. A small gleam caught her attention. To the left of her was a rack containing some of Tyson’s smaller swords. A katana caught her eyes. She walked over to the rack & picked up the sword. It was so light! In fact, she could wave it around with ease. She unsheathed it & waved the bare blade around a little. It was so cool to see it cut through the air. She snuck out of the house & went to a point where Tyson wouldn’t see her. Suddenly, as if being attacked, she began to swing the sword around. Her imagination produced enemies that ran at her, preparing to deliver a death blow. But, she would block their attacks & slash them into pieces. More & more ran towards her. A never-ending onslaught of evil-doers, & she was the only one that could stop them.

Tyson had finished chopping wood & went inside. Eva was nowhere to be found & he noticed that a katana was missing. Two & two went together instantly. “I thought I told her to leave my swords alone!” Tyson muttered to himself. He walked back outside & began circling the house. He peeked around one corner & instantly saw Eva swinging the sword. He stopped himself from yelling at her to observe for a moment. Tyson was impressed that Eva was actually able to use the weapon; somewhat properly. It was as though she had known how to use the weapon. She had some skills, just not as refined as his. He stepped out & continued to watch; amazed that Eva could be so good at this. Eva continued to fight her invisible enemies, slashing one after another. One was coming from behind; she turned & did away with him in an instant. She looked up to see Tyson leaning against the house, staring at her. “Uhhh… Ummm…” was all she could say. How much trouble would she be in? What would he do to her? She dropped the sword. Tyson walked over & picked it, along with the sheath, up. He put them together, then returned his gaze to Eva. “Well? You have fun?” he asked. “I’m sorry! I won’t do it again! I promise!” Eva yelled instantly. “Whoa! I’m not mad at you. Okay? Just don’t do it again. You could have seriously hurt yourself.” He replied. Immediately after finishing, he walked back inside. He was amazed at what Eva could do. “With the right training, she could be a great swordfighter.” he thought to himself. Eva just stood there, amazed that she wasn’t in trouble. Meanwhile, a pair of yellow eyes followed her movements from behind some bushes.

Eva went to chasing little rodents around the house. She was completely baffled. Why wasn’t she in trouble? “Oh well…” she dismissed it. The eyes continued to follow Eva’s every movement. Soon, a couple more pairs of eyes appeared. It seemed that multiple creatures were interested in Eva. Every time she inched closer, the creature’s muscles tensed. She was the perfect size for a meal. Not too small, & not too big. Finally, the small dragoness was within range for an attack. The creatures prepared to pounce. Eva heard rustling in the bushes behind her. She turned around to see a pack of wolves creep out slowly. It was a terrifying sight: evil, yellow eyes, drooling mouths, & a bloodthirsty stare. She started to back up, but was knocked against a tree by a hidden wolf. She did all she could do, scream in terror.

Tyson was preparing for sleep when he heard it. A terrified scream came from outside the house. It was Eva! He rushed to the door, grabbing a katana as he ran. He could see Eva as soon as he came out of the door. The scene before him was terrible. Eva was pinned against a tree, surrounded by six wolves. She couldn’t get away, & the pack was slowly inching closer. “Hey! Get away from her!” Tyson yelled, unsheathing his sword. A couple of the wolves gave him a glance, bit returned their gaze to Eva. “Come on you bloodthirsty beasts!” he yelled, beginning to charge. Two turned & ran at him in response. One jumped, ready to knock Tyson down. He cut through it in mid-air. The second one continued from the ground. It ran past Tyson, preparing for an attack from behind. Only inches away from its target, it was cut down instantly. Tyson had predicted its attack. He turned around to see that the rest of had began charging at him. Eva was safe, for now… Two of the wolves bit into Tyson’s legs. The pain was blinding & Tyson let loose a scream of pain. He slashed at the two wolves biting his legs. They fell to the ground, dead. But, where were the last two? Tyson fell to the ground instantly, one of the remaining wolves on his back. It had managed to surprise him, & now had a hold on the back of his neck. He dropped his sword as he fell. Where was the other one? Tyson had expected a last death blow from it, but he couldn’t find it anywhere.

Eva watched in horror as Tyson fell. A single wolf had attacked him from behind & was latched onto the back of his neck. Blood began streaming from the punctures. “Get away from him! It’s me you want!” she yelled. The wolf paid her no attention & continued to bite further into Tyson’s neck. Surely there was something Eva could do to save him. She looked around; her eyes rested on his sword. It was lying a few feet away from him. She picked it up, readying for her attack. She ran at the wolf, prepared to kill it before Tyson could be killed. She closed her eyes. The sound of metal piercing flesh came to her ears. All went quiet for a few seconds. Eva opened her eyes & saw that the blade had gone clean through the wolf’s chest. It fell back, sliding off the blade. After hearing a low growl, Eva turned around. The last wolf was standing there, staring at her. She braced for an attack, but it didn’t come. Instead, the wolf simply walked off into the woods.

Eva returned to Tyson, who was lying on the ground. She shook him in hopes that it would wake him. “Dad? Are you okay? Dad…” tears streamed down her face. He wasn’t moving at all! “No! Don’t leave me! Please!” she fell on his back & began to cry. He couldn’t die! He couldn’t leave her! What would she do? “Don’t worry…” he began to cough. “Dad! Y- y- you’re alive!” she yelled. He sat up,” I’ll never leave you. It’ll take more than a beast like that to take me down.” he managed to say, coughing up blood. The two of them sat there, staring into each other’s eyes. “Dad? Why are you crying?” Eva asked. Tyson wiped a tear away from his face. “Oh… No reason.” He replied. “No reason at all.”
This is the final part of ch. 3! It took me a while to get the stuff to where it needed to be! Anyways, enjoy it. After all, it was the toughest chapter for me to make. Laven belongs to Generationslayer!
